It’s pretty freakin’ sweet. I’m in love. Coolest thing ever. And I want it. (In case you didn’t gather that from the love talk.)
Oh, and what a name! Apple’s getting a lot of flack for it.
(I think people are just jealous.)
But I figured I’d go ahead and use the title of my post as a means to jump in on the lame jokes.
Hell, I love bandwagons.
Wine and a Movie (Disclaimer: "Movie" is code for...
Tonight I decided to sacrifice my beloved Monday movie for the MU/KU Basketball game. I just had to. My heart was in it. I wore my tiger head hat all day and took the heat from anyone and everyone I encountered here in Lawrence, Ks. - all for the team nearest and dearest to my heart.
I did a quick walk-through of my regular wine shop and decided that there wasn’t really a wine that screamed...
My little sister got her report card...
and was apparently nervous about its contents. She must have been watching the mail and snatched it from the mailbox before anyone could notice that it had arrived. She then carefully opened the envelope, removed the report card and reviewed her grades.
At this point, I’m not sure exactly what happened. She either prepared to change one of her grades and realized that she wouldn’t be...
Wine and a Movie - Sixteen :)
Sunny, Rena and I have been talking about watching “(500) Days of Summer” since I moved into my house in August. Neither of them had seen it before, so when Rena asked me on Friday if we could watch it for this week’s Wine and Movie Monday, we were all very excited.
I was equally thrilled at the suggestion because I had the perfect wine to go along with it. I purchased...
I heart Jack Bauer.
He’s amazing. And I love him.
To celebrate him, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite Jack-Bauer-could-kick-anyone-(-including-Chuck-Norris-)-’s-ass-isms:
If everyone listened to Jack Bauer, the show would be called 12.
Jack Bauer once lost reception on his cell phone. 24 hours later AT&T announced that it would have more bars in more places.
Jack Bauer once...
Oh my mother...
My mother got my personal property tax assessment in the mail the other day. Out of the goodness of her heart, she offered to fill it out and mail it in for me. She called me to ask me some questions to make sure everything was accurate.
The conversation went something like this:
Mom: “Hey Marissa, I need to ask you some questions about your Jeep to fill this thing out… First,...
What is that, and why is it in your cubicle?
That would be a picture of Robert Pattinson. The reason it’s hung on the wall of my friend Carlton’s desk? He is obsessed. He’s Team Edward for sure.
His whole cubicle is decorated with photos he’s torn out of magazines. It weirds me out a little, but hey, to each his own, I guess.
If you’ll notice in the above photo, Mr. Pattinson’s picture is larger and in a more dominant position than...

Wine and a Movie - 15
Since I’ve returned from my Chicago hiatus, I have fabulous news (for both you and my taste buds): Wine and Movie Monday is back!
When I was in Chicago, we made a very important pit stop at Trader Joe’s. The most important purchase?
Two Buck Chuck.
(Unfortunately, in Chicago, it’s Three Buck Chuck. Either way, it’s still incredible.)
If you aren’t familiar with...
Did you know...
…that when you don’t unpack your box of goods from Trader Joe’s and the box of goods is still in your car and your car is in the blizzard-esque weather that is below freezing that your goods in the box from Trader Joe’s will also freeze?
And did you know that when that box of goods from Trader Joe’s includes two bottles of olive oil that that olive oil will, upon...
Winter Wonderland
Last night, I went over to Kelly’s house to eat dinner (very tasty, Kelly-made soup), have a glass of wine (also tasty) and just do basic hanging out type things.
WELL, because of the crazy blizzard-esque weather that was striking Lawrence, Kansas at that given moment and the fact that Kelly lives in East Jesus (Seriously. She has a lot of land. And it’s far. Beautiful, but far.),...
Marissa Loves Breakfast
It’s right there in the title. Though I rarely eat it in the morning (I’m too lazy to wake up early to cook), I’m a lover of breakfast foods. Eggs? Yum. Waffles? Delish. Bacon? Oh yeah.
So, when Terri came to Chicago with a list of places we had to go and two of them were breakfast places, Marissa was thrilled.
One was Ann Sather, a restaurant that serves some of the best...
YAY Chicago!
Before we left Chicago (which was a very fun trip full of friends, delicious breakfasts, bars, shopping and lots of exploring) Terri and I wanted to hit up the Art Institute and see The Bean.
We started out our downtown adventure searching for a place to park. We found street parking which was $4.50 an hour. After paying the meter (that’s a LOT of quarters), we set off to explore Millennium...
Kafein
Kat, Katie and I went to Evanston (just outside Chicago) for a day to wander about. While we were out (in the 6 degree weather) we went to Kafein, a really cute coffee shop with a lot of personality.
I loved this place. It had just as much energy as the name would suggest.
The menu was hysterical.
A few gems:
